A brief history of Satya Wacana Christian University
Satya Wacana was initially established as a Tertiary Institute for the training of Christian teachers (Perguruan Tinggi Pendidikan Guru Kristen Indonesia, or PTPG-KI) in 1956.
At its establishment, the following 9 churches were involved as Founding churches:

Establishment of PTPGKI (forerunner of UKSW)
This letter (dated October 1955) written by S.M.A.Pasariboe and Basoeki Probowinoto (co-founder of Satya Wacana with Dr. O.Notohamidjojo) to the Australian Presbyterian Board of Missions described the idea of establishing PTPGKI - a Teacher Training Institute for Christian teachers.
